IU provides Basic Group Life Insurance, 100 percent of which is paid by IU. The amount is equal to twice your base salary. The maximum amount is $50,000. This basic package includes $3,000 coverage for spouses and $1,000 coverage for children. In addition, an accelerated death benefit, allows terminally ill employees and their dependents the opportunity to collect all or part of their life insurance prior to death.

Affordable, Optional Insurance Plans
A key benefit of working at IU is the number and variety of insurance plans you may not otherwise be able to afford or find elsewhere. These plans will help protect your assets and provide for your dependents should you die or be unable to work. All of the following plans are available through payroll deduction.

• Supplemental life insurance augments Basic Life Insurance provided by IU.
• Long-term disability insurance pays a significant percentage of your salary should you become disabled.
• Personal accident insurance pays benefits in the event of accidental loss of life or dismemberment.
